Still Waiting and Praying

I know I haven't been posting much here. It's hard to focus on much other than the situation with my 14 yo nephew, Graham. We wait and pray for him to wake from the coma his doctors are keeping him in. We're updating a CaringBridge website for him daily as we get information. Daily life does go on here at home; it's just hard to focus on documenting that when there's so much at stake there in Pittsburgh where our hearts are. I'm having a hard time, if you cannot tell, being so far away now. I know that we all feel so helpless, as if there should be something we could do, but it's in God's and the doctors' hands right now. Prayer is truly our best option, not a last resort - the first place we go.

At home, the girls are swimming like fishes after 4 30-minute sessions with the private swim instructor. Nebyat's now fully independent even in the deep end. Jetu's comfortable on her tiptoes with her chin lifted out of the water in the 3 ft deep shallow end. Both are swimming the width if not the length of the pool underwater. We decided to do two more lessons - tomorrow and next Tuesday, just to reinforce the amazing success they've had to date.

We got a call that Jetu was accepted into the Reverse Mainstream program for the fall. She will attend the program at the same elementary school as Nebyat for 1/2 days 5 days per week. It's basically a pre-school program for 12 kids, 6 with and 6 without special needs. There's a very high ratio of teachers to students and it's supposed to be a great program. What a mutually beneficial experience for the kids!

Both girls will attend school (1/2 days) over the summer to help them catch up/prepare for the fall school start. Both are doing amazingly well with their language acquisition. They just amaze me everyday.

Jetu turns 4 on Saturday and we'll celebrate as a family. We've delayed her children's party for a week or so with everything else going on. She's very eskited about her upcoming party and is really not aware of the delay. She's been waiting so patiently as all the other members of her family have celebrated their birthdays since the girls came home in September - first Wondemish (brother), then Papa, then Mama, then Nebyat....
