Nebyat's first week of school in the first grade went fabulously. She's done so well waking up in the morning, getting ready, taking more and more responsibility for herself daily. She's worked with the afternoon sitter everyday to complete her homework and was 2/3 or more through it by the time I got home each day. It's such a blessing not to have to spend our time working on that. Her first weekly report home from the teacher said, "What an outstanding start to 1st grade!" She got an "O" for outstanding for citizenship and an "S" for satisfactory with regard to technical school stuff. She has phys ed every day this year and will also have a reading intervention program for an hour every day. She has math and spelling homework Monday through Thursday and some of it is obscenely complex and difficult for the first week of 1st grade, but she's working through it. She'll have spelling tests every Friday. She will continue on with an Individualized Education Plan until she's determined to have overcome her English language deficits. She tries very hard and really is soaring. We couldn't be more proud.
