3 weeks ago tomorrow, we met these sweet, wonderful little girls. It's hard to believe; in some ways, it seems like yesterday and in others, like a lifetime ago. Mommy had most of the kid duty this week as Papa had big brother, Michael and his lumberjack competition and the 4th annual Lumberjack and jill appreciation barbeque to deal with. And to be honest, Mommy's tired. Sleep's still been a challenge as the girls are both (at different times) waking up several times throughout the night. It has gotten somewhat better and I expect with time that this will cease.
The girls, well Nebyat, actually, was the hit of the party. Michael's twin sisters who are 11 and their friend were in town and one of the neighborhood girls all made such a fuss over her all afternoon and all evening. She makes friends easily and wants all of us to live together after a good day with them. She cried today when the twins left with Wondemish. Jetu clams up and is a bit clingy (my back does not appreciate a day like yesterday). She enjoyed the party too, just from her perch on mommy's hip!
We've been swimming and the girls love the water. Jetu's faces before she jumps off the side to mommy are priceless. They both put their heads under the water with no nose holding - the kicking thing is coming a little slower - it's hard without words to communicate some of this stuff.
Speaking of words, they walked around all day today saying "Oh my goodness" in the funniest tones - I guess it could be worse.
The doctor diagnosed the girls with giardia and whipworm, both parasites and prescribed meds that have immediately had an impact on their bathroom visits (for the better). Other than that they've been determined to be aged appropriately at 3 and 6 and we will not change their birthdates,so their birthdays are 4/11/2003 for Nebyat and 6/12/2006 for Jetu.
We'll post soon and add some pics!
