Still seeking....

We are still awaiting a decision about proceeding with K-Country adoption. At this time, we have received the FBI record back from the fingerprint request and the charges and the disposition of the case were listed on their files. I'm waiting for the access and review record from the PA state police to provide CIS with the court disposition. The courts themselves returned a letter saying no record. We've worked on a letter of explanation/remorse and anticipate that it will satisfy CIS sufficiently to gain approval for international adoption. The real issue is whether or not K-Country will permit an adoption with one 30-year old "conviction" for underage drinking and dismissed charges for contributing to the delinquency of minors and running a speak-easy (whatever....). If that's not going to happen, then we're consulting with our agency's facilitators about transferring us to their R-Country program. We must just wait and see what decisions will be necessary. Nothing has been decided at this time.

Originally, we had preferred the K-Country program over R-Country because of the general health of the children in K-Country. It's a more traditional asian culture with some muslim influence and therefore the children tend to be at lower risk for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and drug related problems.

On a good note, my foreign language lessons will not go to waste.

I considered checking on Poland again for adoption; it would be nice with the connections and cultural familiarity we have with that country, but there are so few children adopted from there each year, we really have no resources here to assist in that undertaking.

I'm praying for direction and forward progress and would ask you to do the same. As always, please pray for all of the children waiting in orphanages for their forever families while we adults complicate the process to a point that risks their lives and emotional and mental health.
